Faculty members and professional librarians may participate in
most benefits plans if appointed for at least half time (.5 FTE or more)
and their employment is expected to last more than one year, and may
participate in most other benefit plans if appointed for at least half
time.
Administrative staff members:
· May participate in the basic retirement plan if regularly scheduled to
work at least half time (i.e. at least 975 hours per year) and their
employment is expected to last more than one year;
- Are eligible for sick pay and
short term disability benefits if regularly scheduled to work at
least half time;
- May participate in most other
benefits if regularly scheduled to work at least three-quarter time
(i.e. at least 1462.5 hours a year).
- All faculty members, professional
librarians, and administrative staff members are eligible to
contribute to supplemental retirement accounts.
Early Retirees
Tenured faculty members who retire on or after the July 1 in the
calendar year in which the faculty member reaches age 59 and before June
30 following age 68, and who have at least 10 years of continuous
eligible service, are eligible to participate in the Early Retirement
Plan for Tenured Faculty members. These faculty members, and other
faculty members who retire on or after age 55 and whose number of years
of service and age total at least 75, may continue to participate in
health, dental, and life insurance plans until June 30 following age 68
on the same basis as active faculty.
Administrative staff and professional librarians who retire on or after
age 55 and whose number of years of service and age total at least 75
may continue to participate in health, dental, and life insurance plans
on the same basis as active staff until the first of the month when they
turn age 65. The retiree spouse/partner may continue on the plans until
the earlier of the first of the month when he/she turns age 65 or the
retiree turns age 65.
In addition, administrative staff and professional librarians who were
hired prior to July 1, 2001 and who retire between ages 60 and the 65
with at least 10 years of continuous eligible service may also continue
to participate in health, dental, and life insurance plans on the same
basis as active staff until the first of the month when they turn age
65. The retiree spouse/partner may continue on the plans until the
earlier of the first of the month when he/she turns age 65 or the
retiree turns age 65.
Members of bargaining units should refer their current contract for
early retirement eligibility. |
