H.R.I.S. : Loading Historical Data : Alternatives & Decisions

H.R.I.S. - LOADING HISTORY

2/28/97: The project scope as initially defined does not include the loading of historical data. As we have moved along the path towards implementation, we find reason to review this decision. We now know that we will be loading all employees from PC Payroll, including those with a status = 'T' (terminated). As we have not purged the PC Payroll database since we began with it in October 1993, this does mean that some history will be automatically included in our initial data conversion. Other discussions have led us to believe that there is significant interest in loading other historical data (see below), that we have currently in HR2000.

In the CSS HR system, the JOB table looks like the most likely to use for storing what history we have. This table is effective dated, so we can load an employee's salary history etc... Some of the fields we may be able to load include (these all need more detailed review) ...

Employee ID - this will link to current biographical data for existing employees, to the last known biographical data for employees no longer at Wesleyan.
Effective Date - this will be the date of any change in an employee's JOB information.
DeptID - the department the employee worked for as of the effective date.
Action Code - unknown at this time whether or not HR2000 stores an 'action' related to the change in JOB data.
Action Date - probably not necessary, we will use effective date.
Action Reason - as with Action Code, unknown if HR2000 has this data.
Change Amount - if it is not stored now, can we calulate it ?
Annual Rate - as of the effective date
Monthly rate - as of the effective date
Hourly Rate - as of the effective date
Home Jobcost Number - the account number the employee was funded by as of the effective date (unknown whether or not this data is available from within HR2000, we may be able to get it from the distribute dataset instead)
Jobcode - the jobcode for the employee as of the effective date.
The following fields may just come from the JOBCODE table once we load the Jobcode...

FLSA Status
EEO Class
Grade
Compensation Frequency
