Wesleyan Hughes Summer Outreach (WHSO)

As part of our summer research program, Wesleyan students are joined by undergraduate students from other institutions. The program is open to all students who reside in Connecticut or are currently attending colleges and universities in the state of Connecticut. Students in groups under-represented in the sciences, including minorities and women, are encouraged to apply.

WHSO students perform research in a life science laboratory under the direction of a Wesleyan faculty member, and participate in all parts of the summer research program, including  weekly seminars and workshops, a symposium, various social events, and the closing Poster Session. (See Summer Program and Menu to left.)

Application information and an application form for WHSO can be downloaded from the web or obtained from the Wesleyan Hughes Office, MB&B Department, Wesleyan University Middletown, CT 06459-0175 (msnow@wesleyan.edu). To apply: provide your name, address, institutional affiliation, class and major; include a statement that describes your research interests, any previous research experience and explains how the proposed summer research experience relates to your academic and professional goals. Forward this letter and arrange for two letters of recommendation from faculty and a current transcript to be sent to: Hughes Summer Outreach, MB&B Department, Wesleyan University Middletown, CT 06459-0175.
