Hughes Work Study
Research
Our Hughes Work Study Research Program is designed to help
students who would like to start research in the life sciences, but
who are constrained by work study time commitments.
To help jump start in-semester research, the Wesleyan Hughes
Program provides work-study funding so that students may focus
their efforts on research. Funds are available for up to 8 hours of
work study per week, during which time students perform research.
Priority is given to the first semester of research. The program is
open to all Wesleyan Financial Aid eligible undergraduates. Students
under-represented in the life sciences, including first-generation
college and minority students, are encouraged to apply.
Application Procedure:
1. Students should submit a letter of application briefly
describing their proposed research and stating reasons why they
should receive support.
2. The applicant should also arrange for a brief letter of support
from their faculty research mentor.
Applications should be submitted to Maureen Snow (205 Hall Atwater
Laboratories). Applications received before the last day of classes
in the previous semester will have full consideration. Later
applications will be considered if funds remain.
