Network Desktop Support Departmental User Assistant for Humanities
Generally, you would make yourself available according to a flexible schedule that you would work out with the individual faculty and administrators to keep their machines running smoothly, with the up to date versions of the software we support. Those faculty and staff who want or need more training could get training from you. You would also help the department design, develop, and maintain its web page, as well as helping indvidual faculty who might want to use the web for a course they are teaching.
Specifically, you would do:
Proactive things: upgrading software, inventorying hardware and peripherals, small and one-on-one tutorials, teaching about backups, running disk utilities.

Reactive things: fixing broken computers, reporting very broken things to the right person to fix them, recovering lost files, unjamming printer queues.

Creative things: making web page, putting together training materials, making links to other relevant topics on other pages.

You would receive training and backup support from ITS through the Humanities Computing Coordintor, and we would have regular meetings to share information within the group of NDS departmental UAs.
