The W.M. Keck Foundation awarded Wesleyan a significant grant to establish a comprehensive information technology teaching infrastructure. The grant provides funds for 5 inter-related initiatives:
W.M. Keck Humanities Lab
Located on the first floor of Fisk Hall, the lab houses 7 powermacs, 7 pcs, and a wide variety of humanities software and scanning peripherals.
W.M. Keck Language Media Center
To be located in the existing Language Lab in Fisk Hall, the Language Media Center will provide modern, computer-based instructional facilities for language instruction, as well as traditional analog audio and video services.
Humanities Multimedia Classrooms
Through the use of laptop computers and projection equipment, faculty can use computer-based multimedia materials in their classrooms.
Humanties Teaching Enhancement Fund
Two separate programs comprise this component of the initiative: a pedagogical project grant program and a mentor program.
Speaker Program
During the course of the academic year, Humanities departments will host speakers from outside Wesleyan who will demonstrate their use of technology in teaching, and give small workshops on how to develop pedagogically useful resources using technology.
