Evaluating Course Management Systems
Goal: evaluate Blackboard and WebCT for potential adoption of
one over the other, or potentially drop both and adopt an OKI-based
replacement.
Tools: Blackboard and WebCT trial/demo sites, local installations
Resources: Academic Computing Managers, vendor representatives, white
papers, faculty feedback, and reports of similar
efforts by other institutions end-users
Timeline: Decision needed by Summer 2003
Description: The pricing for both commercial CMS
projects is scheduled to sky-rocket in 2003 and we will no longer be
able to simultaneously support both products. If we adopt an OKI-based
product, we may need to write our own quiz engine (see x project) for
use in Physics and Math courses.
