Timeline: on-going

Discussion:

The focus of the LabData project is to build a web interface to facilitate management of Wesleyan's six Academic Computing Labs. Highlights include:

  • a tech queue for reporting and tracking hardware and software projects
  • a consultant database to manage consultant's skill levels, hardware and software expertise, schedule information
  • a menu system to order food for meetings and special events such as On-Line Registration
  • a training database to track the progress of lab trainees during their training semester
  • an administrative interface to set options, monitor databases, browse databases
  • a reference and testing area for trainees

The site is being tested this semester; and should be considered a work in progress. Many features require either consultant login or admin login. Many features are in progress or planned for the future.

Integration of Lab Consultants Expertise with Software Database

Steps

  1. Identify key software (e.g. spss, excel, mathematica)
  2. Identify the capabilities one needs to have in order to be an advanced and an expert user
  3. Develop assessment/training materials
  4. Have consultants take assessment/training to qualify
  5. Inform faculty who require this software in their courses that this form of support is available.
