ITS Database Administration Overview
Database administration is
responsible for the creation and maintenance of Wesleyan's databases, ensuring reliable
and efficient access to information across the university.
Wesleyan uses Oracle Enterprise v10.2
databases, running on both Linux Red Hat and Microsoft Windows. Wesleyan's suite of applications
utilizing Oracle databases includes:

Additionally, there are five Microsoft SQL Server 2005
databases, used
for a handful of applications (event management system, financial aid, OrgPlus).
Wesleyan uses Oracle's Internet
Application Server (10.2gIAS), running on Linux Red Hat, for serving up database
information on the web, allowing for both secured and unsecured access.
Databases and IAS servers are managed via
Oracle's Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
