Oracle Database Administrator Duties
Administer all databases in the areas of: maintenance, tuning, performance, and troubleshooting.
Research and apply Oracle-supplied patches to the databases of each OS. Keep all databases at the same version and patch level.
Provide ongoing database technical support to all ITS programmers.
Enact an aggressive backup strategy for all production databases (triple redundancy). Provide double redundancy for all development databases.
Archive all production database exports to DVD (in encrypted form) weekly; store copies both onsite and offsite.
Develop and enforce both database and OS-level security policies for data protection.
Create and improve database administrative programs, which are both written in perl, and/or UNIX bash shell.
Administer and maintain the Oracle Internet Application Server (10gIAS R2).
Maintain all contractual agreements with Oracle Corporation.
Create, augment, and maintain the Institutional Research database.
Research and recommend optimal hardware configurations for new server purchases. Work with system administrators in setup of said servers.
Maintain and upgrade the CA Autosys software/database. Function as a technical contact with CA sales and technical personnel.
Function as database administrator for Olin Library software projects (CTW).
Enrich the ITS floor with quality music whenever possible.
