ITS Oracle Database Availability

Wesleyan ITS works to have Oracle databases be accessible to the Wesleyan community.

All Wesleyan Oracle production databases are available 24 hours a day, excepting Tuesday mornings from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. The following production databases are down at different times:

• The Millennium fund-raising database is down from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday mornings.

• The Blackboard Onecard database is down from 4 a.m. to  4:30 a.m. Tuesday mornings.

• The library consortium database is down daily from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m.

All Wesleyan Oracle development databases are available 24 hours a day on most days.  Since development databases are not required to be accessible after normal working hours, down times will vary.

Oracle releases quarterly security and software patches for all Oracle products.  Wesleyan's policy is to apply these patches as soon as they are released, in order to keep our information secure.  Therefore, there are weekend maintenance windows for which these patches may be applied; during this time there will be limited availability of applications.
