Access to Wesleyan Systems from Home via DSL or Cable Modem
For a number of years, Wesleyan has supported off-campus access to our computer systems via dial-up connections to our modem pool. This facility is still supported, but with many faculty and staff members subscribing to high-speed Internet connections at home, new alternatives are now available.
Now that DSL (through SBC/SNET) and Cable Modem service (through Comcast) are available in the Middletown area, we have put together a series of recommendations for individuals who want to connect to Wesleyan using their high-speed connection.
To arrange for your high-speed Internet access at home, please visit the sites below:
Outside of the general Middletown area, you may have to contact other providers for these services.
Once you have arranged for your home service, please select the option below that suits your needs.
- Configuration #1: One or more computers with access to Wesleyan Email, Library resources, and file transfer to Dragon.
- Configuration #2: One or more computers including some with wireless connections with access to Wesleyan Email, Library resources, and file transfer to Dragon.
- Configuration #3: Either of the above configurations plus access to other Wesleyan systems which are not normally available from off-campus locations.
Once your Home Computing Installation is complete, read the instructions on how to use your new set-up at home.
