Connecting to your Campus PC from your Mac
Before you can connect to your campus Windows PC, you need
to get the Remote Desktop Connection program. This is a free
program from Microsoft. You can get it from the following web page:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=remotedesktopclilent
Once downloaded, the application will be in a new window
on your desktop. Drag it to your Applications folder. Then open the
program from your Applications folder.
Enter the name of the computer you are connecting to (as
in Step 6 above). Then click Connect. You will be prompted
for your login information.
The remote desktop will fill your screen and you should
see the same desktop you normally do when your are at your campus computer.
Likewise, all of the programs you normally have available to you are available
here. It should be noted that you cannot cut and paste between
your home machine and remote machine, nor can you save things that you do on one
machine to the other.
When you have finished your work, go to the start
menu of the Remote Desktop and select Log Off.
