CFA Checklist
- Open Finale.
- Click
Setup Wizard and follow the steps; make sure to select at least one instrument track.
- Select the
Hyperscribe tool (looks like a few notes on a piano keyboard).
- From the Hyperscribe menu, select
Beat Source, then Playback and/or Click...
- Click OK.
- On the
Playback Controls window, click Record.
- Listen for the click to start.
- Press keys on the MIDI controller and look for notes to appear on the staff.
- Press space to stop recording.
- Click play to listen to what you have recorded; if you hear notes, the controller is functioning.
- Open iTunes.
- Create a new playlist and add audio tracks to it (if iTunes has no files, you may have to search for some or import tracks from a CD).
- Insert recordable CD.
- At the popup window, select
Open iTunes.
- Select the playlist you created.
- Click
Burn Disc (at the lower right-hand corner).
- Open Finale.
- Click
Setup Wizard and follow the steps; make sure to select at least one instrument track.
- Select the
Simple Entry tool (looks like an eighth note).
- Click in one of the measures; if a note appears, Finale is working.
- Open iTunes.
- Under the iTunes menu, select
Preferences, then the Advanced section.
- Under the
Importing tab, select Import Using: MP3 Encoder.
- Click OK.
- Insert audio CD.
- Select
Import CD.
- Right-click an imported file and select
Show in Finder from the drop-down menu.
- Copy the imported file to the desktop.
- Open Audacity.
- Under the File menu, select
Open, locate the imported file on the desktop, and click OK.
- Apply effects to the audio by selecting part of the track and choosing an effect under the
Effects menu.
- Ensure that the program is able to apply effects and edit MP3s.
***note: exporting as an MP3 requires an external library (LameLib) that is not installed by default***
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Type

- Print to CFALab_HP5100
- Download a color image and open in Photoshop.
- Edit the image in any way.
- Print to Xerox7750DN
- Open EPSON Scan.
- Place image on scanner bed.
- Click
Preview.
- In the preview pane, select the desired portion of the image.
- Click
Scan.
- Select destination folder.
- Enter filename under
Prefix and reset Start Number to 001.
- Select image format.
- Click
OK.
- Verify the scan by opening the file in Preview.
- Insert blank DVD into DVD burner.
- On DVD recorder remote, press
Source until the display blinks EXT1 and the record button glows red.
- Insert VHS tape into VHS deck and wait for it to start playing.
- Press record on DVD recorder.
- Press stop on DVD recorder to stop recording.
- Finalize disc.
- Turn on DV deck.
- Set DV deck input to
LINE.
- Open Final Cut Pro.
- Under the File menu, select
Log and Capture.
- Under the
Capture Settings tab, make sure Device Control is set to FireWire NTSC.
- Click
Capture Now.
- To stop capturing, press ESC.
- iDVD is only partially functional in the main lab at the moment.
