How to add a Lab Printer in OS X (10.4.x)

  1. Launch "Printer Setup Utility" (applications-Utilities-Printer Setup Utility)
  2. Click the Add icon the the window's menu bar.
  3. The Default Protocol should be set to Line Printer Daemon-LPD. Leave this.
  4. Next Address type falcon.wesleyan.edu in the dialog box.
  5. Type in the name exactly as provided in the lab printers list document in the Que Name field.
  6. Enter the name of the printer in the Name field. The location is optional.
  7. Select the driver by clicking the down-arrow in the :Print Using field. Almost all printers in the labs are HPs.
  8. Select the model of printer you are using or to which you are attaching. NOTE: you may need to install drivers from HP (http://www.hp.com). Click the Software and Driver Downloads link. Enter LaserJet xxxx in the field (where xxx=the model of the printer).
  9. click the Add button.
