How to image a Mac to dual boot

  1. Insert BartPE into CD drive and restart the computer. Hold the "c" key to boot from Bart PE CD. Bart PE takes a while to start up. The CD must be left in the drive for the entire duration of this process.
  2. Click "Yes" when asked to start network support now. This brings you to the PE network configurator. Select the Dynamic IP Address (DHCP) option.
  3. Make sure settings match the next screen shot (Marvell Yukos card) selected with DHCP option.
  4. Once you are in the PE environment, navigate to Go > System > Network > Map Network Drive...
  5. For the path, type \\129.133.125.126\bigbird_g, then connect using a different username, using these credentials - username: wesleyan\ghostuser , password: r0ck3tm@n
  6. Navigate to Go > Programs > Symantec Ghost v8 > Ghost32 (takes some time to load)
  7. In the ghost32 application, click OK to get to the main screen, then navigate to Local > Partition > From Image
  8. Look in your mapped network drive (bigbird_g) and then navigate to backup\fall07\1-23-08\. Then click on the file called CFAXP.gho
  9. Select source partition from image file, you only have one option, click OK
  10. Select local destination drive, you only have one option, click OK
  11. Select destination partition from Basic Drive:1 Choose part 2, NTFS partition. It will have the smaller datasize. Make sure you are not overwriting the OSX partition! Then click OK.
  12. It will take 30 - 60 minutes for the new XP image to download. When it is completed, restart the computer if you are prompted. It is then safe to remove the BartPE CD.
