Voicemail

General information

TO INITIALIZE VOICEMAIL BOX:

1. From your own phone, dial 2222

2. Follow the tutorial to initialize your voicemail

3. Be sure to include your full first and last name in the name portion of your greeting

4. Your "temporary" password is your four digit telephone extension number, not your post office box

TO ACCESS VOICEMAIL (On Campus):

From your own phone

1. Dial 2222

2. You will hear your name

3. Enter your password

From another campus phone

 

1. Dial 2222

2. You will hear person's name

3. Press "*"

4. Enter your four (4) digit extension number

5. Hear name confirmation

6. Enter your password

TO ACCESS VOICEMAIL (From Off Campus):

 

1. Dial (860) 685-2222 from any TouchTone phone

2. Press "#"

3. Enter your four (4) digit extension number

4. Hear name confirmation

5. Enter your password

TO RETRIEVE MESSAGES:

 

1. Access voicemail box

2. Hear main menu

3. Dial (1) to review messages

4. At the end of the message, follow prompts to erase, save, or reply to message

TO CHANGE PASSWORD:

 

1. Access voicemail box

2. Hear main menu

3. Dial (4) (personal options)

4. Dial (2) (administrative options)

5. Dial (1) (password)

6. Dial (1) (personal password)

7. Enter new password (4 to 15 digits in length)

8. Press "#"

9. Listen to confirmation of new password

TO CHANGE GREETING:

 

1. Access voicemail box

2. Hear main menu

3. Dial (4) (personal options)

4. Dial (3) (greetings)

5. Dial (1) (personal greeting)

6. Record new greeting

7. Press "#"

8. Listen to confirmation of new greeting

TO CREATE AN EXTENDED ABSENCE GREETING:

 

1. Access voicemail box

2. Hear main menu

3. Dial (4) (personal options)

4. Dial (3) (greetings)

5. Dial (2) (extended absence greeting)

6. Record extended absence greeting

7. Press "#"

8. Listen to confirmation of new extended absence greeting

 

IMPORTANT:

In order to better utilize the WesTel voicemail system, all users are required to identify their mailbox with their correct first and last names in the "name" portion of the greeting. This is necessary to let people know they are sending messages to the correct person. Do not initialize your mailbox with a false or "funny" name. Your "personal" greeting is optional, and may be recorded at your discretion.
