Administrative Department Web Sites

Policy

Any administrative department can have a Web site. If a department has an existing Web site that is out-of-date, they can have it updated with the new Wesleyan style. If a department does not have a Web site, they can post a site for their department based on the new Wesleyan style. We hope to create all department Web sites with a cohesive and unified look and feel. The new process has been developed so that each department site will have its own identity consistent with the new design. These new designs will help departments be more efficient in updating their information on their Web site and will provide better Web services to its audiences.

Process

The process for creating an administrative department Web site can be started by contacting Jennifer Carlstrom, the Web Manager, in University Communications at x3180 or via e-mail at jcarlstrom@wesleyan.edu. A process has been created to give departments better control over their content without having to worry about the design. The design of the site is controlled externally by templates held in a separate Web area so departments do not have to worry about updating the design. The process will include an initial goal setting meeting, new designs for the templates, a training class on the templates, and a workshop to transform the old content to the new design. This process allows the content to be updated either via Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe GoLive. The process takes 5 to 6 weeks depending on the amount of content to change.
