Tasks Associated with a Page
- you can keep a list of tasks that need to be done to a specific page
- in Page View - Right Click on the page
- select Add Task

- Task name - name the task
- Assigned to - name of person doing task
- Priority - high, medium or low
- Description - full description of task
- you can add multiple tasks for a page
- to view the list of tasks go to the Task View
- the Associated With column is the title of the page with the task
Tasks NOT Associated with a Page
- highlight the web name (the folder starting with http://)
- choose Edit/Task/Add Task
- fill in the same fields as a task on a page
- use Task View to see the task
- notice that it is not Associated with any page (it is blank)
Assigning Tasks
- create a master list of names
- in Page View right click on any file
- select Properties
- select Workgroup
- select Names
- use the Add/Delete/Reset to change names
- use this Master List of Names to assign tasks or reassign tasks
Assign or Reassign Tasks
- switch to Tasks view
- click on Assigned to column of task you want to assign
- a drop down with names in the master list will appear
Editing a Task
- switch to Tasks view
- double click on the task
- make changes in the Task Details box
Create a Review Procedure for Your Web
Current Page Spellcheck
- go to Tools/Spelling
- misspelled words will be displayed with suggestions for changes
Current Web Spellcheck
- go to folder view
- select Tools/Spelling
- use Entire web radio button
- if you want a task list entered for each spelling error check the box
- press start
- you will receive a listing of pages with problems
- you can add the list of pages to the task list
- you can double click on the page and make the changes
Orphaned Files
- an orphaned file has no links to it from other pages in the FrontPage Web
- switch to Reports view
- view Reports Toolbar (View/Toolbars/Reporting)
- in the Reporting Toolbar select Unlinked Files from the dropdown box
- you receive a list of unlinked files
- Highlight & Right Click to delete the file
Validating Links
- FrontPage can follow hyperlinks and give you a list of invalid ones
- switch to Reports view
- view Reports Toolbar (View/Toolbars/Reporting)
- in the Reporting Toolbar select Site Summary from the dropdown box
- notice the Broken Hyperlinks row
- double click on the Count column to get details
- double click on the filename to fix it
- edit the page to fix the link
- or browse you web to choose the correct page
- or change the link to the correct url
- right click the page name to add it to the task list
Validating Components
- you can view the pages that have errors with components
- switch to Reports view
- view Reports Toolbar (View/Toolbars/Reporting)
- in the Reporting Toolbar select Site Summary from the dropdown box
- notice the Component Errors row
- double click on the Count column to get details
- you can double click on an item to edit it
- right click an item to add it to the task list
Security
- you can secure your FrontPage web by Wesleyan email userid/password
- select Tools/Security Permissions
- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web
- press Apply
- choose the Users tab
- use Add/Edit/Remove to define users (Wesleyan email) and access rights
- Add User

- Name - Wesleyan email userid (pleone)
- Password - any characters (needed to add user - but user will use their email password)
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Administer - can access this web site through FrontPage with their Wesleyan email userid & password and can do anything the owner can do (even set security)
- Author - can access this web site through FrontPage with their Wesleyan email userid & password and can edit pages (can not change security)
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with Wesleyan email userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- use the radio button to give everyone browse access or only users listed above
- click Apply
- choose Computers tab
- for tighter security you can add the ip address of computers you want to have access
- click Apply
- click OK
Additional Information for Security
Checkout System
- FrontPage lets a group of users work on a site - defined through security
- built in Checkout System won't let 2 people update file at same time
- to turn on checkout system go to Tools/Web Settings
- check box Use document check-in and check-out
- click OK in the dialog box
- notice the green dots next to the files - they are not checked out
- to check out a file right click on the file and select Check Out

- notice the file has a checkmark in front of it - telling you is is checked out
- no one else can edit it while you have it checked out
- to check it back in - right click on the file and select Check In
- notice the dot returns to green - now others can edit it
