User Access
IP Access

Restricting User Access Using the FrontPage Security Tool
- you can secure your FrontPage web by Wesleyan email userid/password
- select Tools/Security Permissions
- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web
- press Apply
- choose the Users tab
- use Add/Edit/Remove to define users (Wesleyan email) and access rights
- Add User

- Name - Wesleyan email userid (pleone)
- Password - any characters (needed to add user - but user will use their email password)
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Choose the type of access for this user
- Administer - can access this web site through FrontPage with their Wesleyan email userid & password and can do anything the owner can do (even set security)
- Author - can access this web site through FrontPage with their Wesleyan email userid & password and can edit pages (can not change security)
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with Wesleyan email userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- click OK
- use the radio button to give everyone browse access or only users listed above
- click Apply
Restricting IP Access Using the FrontPage Security Tool
- choose Computers tab
- for tighter security you can add the ip address of computers you want to have access
- click Apply
- click OK
Secure your site so only Wesleyan users can browse it.
- select Tools/Security Permissions
- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web
- press Apply
- choose the Users tab
- Add User
- In the Name field enter anywesuser
- Password - any characters (needed to add user - but user will use their email password)
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Choose the type of access for this user
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with Wesleyan email userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- click OK
Secure your website so only a specific academic class can browse it.

- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web

- Add User
- In the Name field enter classlist_cid_yearsemester
- Password - any characters (needed to add user - but user will use their email password)
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Choose the type of access for this user
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with Wesleyan email userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- click OK
Secure your website so only a specific department can browse it.
- select Tools/Security Permissions
- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web
- press Apply
- choose the Users tab
- Add User
- In the Name field enter dept_departmentcode
- Password - any characters (needed to add user - but user will use their email password)
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Choose the type of access for this user
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with Wesleyan email userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- click OK
Secure your site and create an account for a non-Wesleyan users to browse it.
- select Tools/Security Permissions
- set the radio button for Use unique permissions for this web
- press Apply
- choose the Users tab
- Add User
- In the Name field enter guest_username
- use the naming convention of guest_ followed by a unique identifier for the guest account
- you want the account name to be unique from all valid wesleyan accounts and unique to you
- Password - give your guest account a valid password - they will use this to login
- Confirm Password - same characters as Password
- Choose the type of access for this user
- Browse - can view the page through the browser with newly created guest account userid & password (need to use the radio button for Only registered users have browse access)
- click OK
