Personal Web Sites

Note: Starting in January 2008 the university began using WesFiles as a central storage area for all files including personal web sites. All new accounts are automatically being set up to use WesFiles as the storage for their web data. Existing users will be contacted about moving their data, including their web data on condor, to WesFiles.

Policy

All current faculty, staff, and students have the opportunity to publish Web pages. All home pages stored on either Condor or WesFiles and are served with the address http://userid.web.wesleyan.edu where userid is your E-mail login.

Process

Your web space is created for you automatically. Your Condor or WesFiles password is initially set for you but if you have password questions, you can contact operations at operations@wesleyan.edu.

  • If you are a WesFiles user all data for the Web needs to be stored in the web directory within your home directory.

  • If you are a Condor user all data for the web needs to be stored within the public_html directory within your Condor home directory.

Resources

Individuals are responsible for putting up their own Web pages.

Condor users: Instructions on how to publish your page using Microsoft Frontpage and Adobe GoLive are available. If you wish to transfer your html documents or other files to Condor, you will need to use a secure FTP program (SFTP). You can use any Web editor to create and maintain your personal Web space. On line training is available through ElementK.

WesFiles users: Instructions for using WesFiles are available on the WesFiles Blog.
