How to connect your computer to Cisco Clean
Access
Before a computer can
connect to the Wesleyan wireless network you must have a properly installed
802.11a/b/g wireless network card. Any card bearing the Wi-Fi logo should work
perfectly with the Wesleyan wireless network. The actual installation of the card
will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and is beyond the scope of this
document. Following the directions that come with the card is strongly
recommended. The default settings for most cards are all that is needed to
connect to the Wesleyan wireless network.
Note:
If you use your computer on another wireless network you should record all
settings before changing them, so they can be restored for later use.
Wired:
If you are
using a wired connection connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet
port on your computer and then connect the other end to the orange data jack on
the wall.
Wireless:
If you are
using a wireless connection you will connect to our wireless system identified
as AirWes.
NOTE FOR APPLE USERS: If you are using
an Apple computer, you will always be prompted to login through the web access
CCA before accessing the internet and will not have to install the Cicso Clean
Access Client.
Continue to follow the steps below if you are
using a Windows computer.
Once you have done the above,
open your preferred Internet browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari,
etc)
You will see the below pictured Cisco Clean Access (CCA)
Authentication webpage.
Use the specific username/password that you have received
from Wesleyan ITS to authenticate.
If you are
using a Windows computer, once you login through the web access CCA, you will
be prompted to install a client version of the CCA. Once it is installed you will always log into
the wireless network using this client. You only need to go through the below
procedure once, however please be aware that there may be additional patches
for the client that will need to be downloaded occasionally.
After
logging into the CCA page shown above you will see this page. Click the button
to Download the Clean Access Agent.
Click the button as shown below
Click “Run” when the following dialog
box pops up.
Click “Run” again.
Click “Next” from the following
dialog box.
Click “Next” again.
Click “Install”
Click “Finish”
Now
reboot your computer. When your computer
starts the Cisco Clean Access Client, as seen below, will open allowing you to
log into the Client. If additional
patches for the CCA are necessary they will download at this time.
If there are Microsoft Windows
patches or updates to your antivirus program necessary you will be asked to
download them after logging into this window.
