Using encrypted AirWes with Mac OS X 10.4 

If you click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen and choose “About This Mac” the dialog box will tell you the version of Mac OS X you have.

These instructions will walk you through connecting to the encrypted wireless network called AirWes-wpa.  The wireless network called AirWes is not encrypted.  An encypted connection will protect your data as it is transmitted over the wireless network. 

 

Step 1 – Select “AirWes-wpa” from the Airport menu on the top right of your screen or choose “Join Other Network..”

 

 

 

Enter the information as below:

 

Wireless Security: WPA Enterprise

User Name: (your email user name)

Passowrd: (your email password)

802.1X Configuration: Automatic

 

Check the box for ‘Remember Password in my Keychain’

 

Then click ‘OK’

Click Show Certificate

 

The check the box called “Always trust acs1.wesleyan.edu”. 

 

Note: You may get this box twice; check the box both times.  There are currently two servers and you will be prompted to accept the certificate from each.

You are connected to the Encrypted Wireless Network! 

 

In the future, your machine will automatically connect and authenticate to the encrypted wireless network.   You can check that you are connected by making sure AirWes-wpa is selected under the Airport menu on the top right of the screen.
