WPA (or Wi-Fi protected access) is the next generation of wireless security.

It supports both authentication and encryption and improves upon previous versions of wireless security such as WEP.

Configuring your wireless device to use WPA takes a few minutes, but it ensures all your information is secure while being transmitted over the wireless network.

Configuring WPA

1.       Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > Communications > Network Connections

2.       Right click on your wireless network connection and select Properties.

3.       Click on the Wireless Network tab.

4.       Click on the Add... button in the Preferred Networks section and enter parameters to match the following:

SSID:  AirWes-wpa

Authentication:  WPA

Encryption:  TKIP

5.       Click on the Authentication tab. Change EAP type to "Protected EAP (PEAP) and uncheck "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available". The final settings should match the image below.

Click OK until the wireless network connection properties window closes.
