Elizabeth Jackson teaches accelerated Portuguese
for students with prior language learning
experience (particularly in the Romance
languages). She also teaches courses in
Brazilian literature and culture, and
intermediate/advanced language on an ad hoc
basis. She has a PhD in Portuguese and
Brazilian language and literatures from the
University of Texas at Austin, where she taught
for 5 years. She has given workshops for K-12
teachers and taught exploratory Brazilian
language and culture in the public schools at
all levels. Elizabeth has lived in Brazil and
traveled throughout the Portuguese speaking
world to Portugal, Goa, and Macau. Her interests
include translation, music, and poetry which are
incorporated into the courses she teaches at
Wesleyan.
