   Some of Wesleyan's older collections are still classified according to the Cutter Expansive Classification System. Some of these items are in storage; others are in the open stacks in the Science Library Upper Level.

For Cutter items in storage, use the Request function in the CTW Online Catalog to make a CTW Book Request for the library to retrieve it for you.

 

All numbers in the Cutter system are shelved as if in decimal order - e.g. F4551 comes before F46; YYD J792x comes before YYD J8d. Numbers have precedence over letters at the beginnings of lines: 9YYP before YYP before YYP9; YP83 9A7 before YP83 A7.

If you cannot locate a Cutter classed item, request a search at the Olin Security Desk or at the SciLi Circulation Desk, or through the Request function in the CTW Online Catalog.
