Accessing Wesleyan Databases from Off Campus

Current Wesleyan students, staff, and faculty can access the Library's online journals and subscription databases from off campus. To do so, go as you normally would to the Indexes & Databases page or the Journal Locator and click to access it. You will be prompted for your Wesleyan email username and password. Enter those, and you're in. And until you close and reopen your browser, you will not have to log in again for other journals, databases, etc.

To access online resources listed in the library catalog, click this link to the Wesleyan Library Catalog. Enter your Wesleyan email username and password when prompted and you will be accessing the catalog through the proxy server. This will allow you to access any online resources listed in the catalog.

For this to work, your browser must be set to accept cookies. If you get an error message saying that you need to enable cookies, you will need to change your browser settings:

Internet Explorer - Under "Tools" in the main menu, select "Internet Options." Click the tab for "Privacy." Set the "Default Level" to "Medium" or lower.

Firefox - Under "Tools" in the main menu, select "Options." Click on "Privacy." Click the checkbox to "Accept cookies from sites."

One other point: On the Indexes & Databases page, several indexes are labeled as "OCLC." These require you to log in with your Wesleyan email username and password. This is a different login from the one that allows you to access databases from off campus, so you will have to enter your email username and password a second time to access OCLC databases.
