Olin Library - Facilities

The following facilities are available at Olin Memorial Library:

Exhibition Areas

The chief exhibition area in Olin Library is in the east corridor of the main floor, between Special Collections and the Campbell Reference Center. The bronze exhibition cases were presented in 1958 by the Class of 1928. At least four exhibitions a year are prepared by Special Collections & Archives on subjects designed to explore the variety, interest, and scholarly value of the library's collections.

The wall cases along the main corridor of the ground floor usually contain jackets from books recently acquired by the library, selected for their graphic and intellectual appeal and organized in several broad subject groupings.

An upright case just outside Scores & Recordings at the west end of the third floor holds changing exhibitions on musical subjects, often of current interest.

A single case on the third floor landing holds a permanent exhibition of the dozen Wedgwood plates produced to commemorate Wesleyan's centennial in 1931.

Honors Study Carrels

Applications for the use of an Olin Memorial Library Honors Carrel will be available in the Library Office, Olin 202. In early September letters are sent to all seniors detailing the carrel application procedure. These closed study carrels in Olin are assigned by lottery to non-science Honors candidates. In order to keep a closed study carrel, a student's name must appear on the list of Honors candidates periodically issued by Honors College. To participate in the lottery, applications must be in the Library Office by the stated deadline. The results will be posted on the door of the Library Office the following Monday. Carrel keys not picked up from the Library Office by the stated deadline will be reassigned to someone on the waiting list.

Science Honors thesis writers should apply to Roberta Raczka, Science Library 169, for a carrel in the Science Library.
