Scope and Contents Note
This collection contains issues of over 490 different gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender periodicals published between 1966 and 1998. The bulk consists of English-language titles from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, though examples from the European continent, Russia, and Israel are also present. The extent of each title may vary from a single issue to several complete (or near-complete) volumes. The collection is arranged into three separate series by size, and alphabetically by title thereunder.
In the Box List, each title’s contents are listed at the
issue level. The first and last issues of each volume generally include an
added date for reference. For longer runs of a single title, the first and last
issues contained in each box are also listed by date. Titles that have been
published with incorrect issue statements are listed, with a correction in
parentheses if necessary. Multiple copies of a single issue are occasionally
present in the collection, and have been noted. Some dates have been supplied
for titles and appear in parenthesis. A comprehensive city/state/country index has
been added to this finding aid, as well as a separate timeline that can be used
to locate titles by publication date or date range.
