Reproduction Policies

Please submit a Request for Reproduction form (also available at the SC&A reception desk) when requesting photocopies or other media copies.  Copies will be made by staff members and will generally be ready within a few days.  The cost of photocopies is .10 per page for Wesleyan community members and .25 per page for non-community members.  The cost of a digital scan is $1.00 per image plus $2.00 for a CD.  The cost of a black and white reprint photograph (8x10) is approximately $10.00.

The staff of Special Collections and Archives reserves the right to deny any copying request that may damage the material to be copied or may constitute a violation of copyright law.  Photocopying is limited to 15 openings per book and 50 pages per archival box. Provision of copies does not imply permission to publish.

Personal Digital Cameras

Use of personal digital cameras is permitted in the reading room on a case-by-case basis. Images of materials photographed in the reading room may not be used for publication or on a website without permission from the Head of Special Collections.

Items to be photographed must be examined by the staff of Special Collections and evaluated for physical condition, copyright issues, and donor restrictions. The staff of Special Collections reserves the right to deny any request for reproduction that may damage the material to be copied or may constitute a violation of copyright law.

Once approved, an appointment will be made for the researcher to take the digital photo in the presence of a Special Collections staff member.  The staff member will provide a target sheet that must be photographed with each digital image to identify the material as being housed in Special Collections and Archives at Wesleyan University.
