The primary role of reference librarians is to instruct and support all members of the Wesleyan community in the search for information and research materials. Reference librarians will answer questions in person, by telephone, or mail, although patrons with more complex questions are encouraged to come to the library, or to make an appointment with a librarian.
Librarians provide library tours and class instruction. Subject bibliographies or pathfinders are available which provide research strategies and overviews of the kinds of resources available. Advanced workshops for honors students are offered on a regular basis.
Reference librarians are in the process of arranging office visits with individual faculty members to provide instruction in using the new online catalog and the various electronic databases. If you would like to expedite the process, please call or email the Science Librarian.
