Adding and Editing Slide Colors and Backgrounds
 

The "Slide Design" option on the Task Pane allows you to choose "Color Schemes" to can change the colors of slide elements and background, create a design for your slide show, or select from prefabricated "Design Templates." These can be applied to a single slide, or to all slides in a show. 

 

Note that at the bottom of the Task Pane there is an option to "Edit Color Schemes." This offers a few standard selections of dark elements on a light background or light elements on a dark background, or you can select the "Custom" tab for a long list of options for colors of various elements.
