Creating Your First Slide
- Click in an element (title, subtitle, bullet list,
etc.) to select that element.
- For text elements, type the desired text into the
element.
- It is not necessary to put text in every text-box on
the slide. For instance, in the slide at right you could enter a title,
but not a subtitle.
- Note that there is a place to "Click to add notes"
at the bottom of the screen
in which you can explain, or remind yourself, what the contents of the
slide are supposed to mean.
- You can edit text (change the font, size, color,
etc) by selecting Format from the menu bar at the top of the
screen, then selecting Font.
- You can also insert an image into the slide, even if
it is asking for text.

Note that when you add text, it shows up in the box on the left of the
screen. You will see more about what you can do with the left screen in
the next section of this tutorial.
When
you are finished with a slide, click the "New Slide" icon in the tool bar
to create a new slide. PowerPoint assumes that the new slide will be a
simple "title with bullet point text" slide, but it provides the "Slide
Layout" options in the Task Pane so you can quickly select a different
layout from all the options. |
