Presentations with PowerPoint 2003

Starting PowerPoint

When you start PowerPoint, you can get right to work entering content into your title screen. To use the standard blank default format, just click in the "Click to add title" box to add the title of your presentation, and do the same for the subtitle (if your presentation lacks a subtitle because it is not in the standard academic form of "Brief Title: Explanatory or pun-based longer subtitle following the colon" you can just leave the subtitle box blank).

The "Task Pane" to the right of the screen has lots of help features such as a connection to "Office Online" help files, and a drop-down menu for "Getting Started" which lists lots of options for formatting your presentation in a variety of ways.

Once you are done with your formatting (or if you just want to accept the defaults) you can click the upper right X to close the Task Pane and give yourself more room on the screen to edit your slides. To bring the Task Pane back, look under "View" on the main menu for "Toolbars" and click to select "Task Pane."
