Adding and Editing Text

To add text, click in a text box to select it, then start typing.

To change how the text appears, select "Format" from the main menu, then Font.

From the list of Font options, you can select the font type and size, bold or italicize fonts, change the color, etc.

You can also add, resize, and move text boxes. Under "Insert" in the main menu, select "Text Box." (There is also a "Text Box" icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.) Then click in the slide where you want to add a new text box.

To resize a text box, click on the squares along the border and drag to the desired size. To move a text box, click on the border and drag to the desired location.

You can select colors for borders and/or backgrounds in text boxes. Under "Format" in the main menu select the "Placeholder" option.

In addition to colored lines and backgrounds, this box offers many other options for specifying the appearance and position of text and text boxes, such as setting the margins between text and the box border .

Most text is likely to be in bullet lists, highlighting the main points of your presentation. All the preformatted layouts for new slides which feature text boxes assume you will be putting your text in a bullet list. So, to avoid the boredom one plain, dull bullet after another, you can go under "Format" on the main toolbar and select "Bullets and Numbering" for all sorts of options for your lists.

Along with different shapes and colors for bullets and numbers, there are many images and characters to choose from to use as bullets. If you are artistically inclined and care to make the effort, you can even create and import your own bullet images.

To enter text in a bullet list, just start typing. When you hit "Enter" at the end of a line, another bullet will be created. To make the next line a sub-bullet entry, hit the "tab" key. Enter the sub-bullet entry, and hit "Enter" to make the next sub-bullet. Another "tab" will take you one more sub-level in; hitting "shift" and "tab" at the same time takes you back out a level.

To delete a text box, click on the border of the text box and hit "Delete." If there is text in the box, the text will be erased and the box will remain. Hit "Delete" again to delete the box.
