Searching Your EndNote Library
So now that you have a library full of a long list of references, how do you find the specific one you are looking for? It's a snap. You can easily locate a single reference or a group of common references:
- Open the library
- Choose Tools from the main tool bar
- Choose Search Library
- This brings up the search options in the lower box:

- Type in your search term(s)
- Choose the field you wish to search (author, title, etc)
- Use the Boolean and and or to connect multiple terms
- Match Case will make your search case-sensitive; Match Word will force your search to find your exact words (e.g., "state" would retrieve only "state" rather than "statehood")
- Click on Search
- This will give you a list of all and only references in the library that match your search criteria. (To get a full list of all references in the library, click the All References option at the top of the left box.)
