Scope and Contents Note
In 2001, Ed Wu wrote an article titled The Race Politics of Hiring which was published in the May 14 issue of the Wesleyan Argus Magazine. In this article, he interviewed various students, faculty, and administration about hiring and retention rates for faculty of color, as well as responses by student of color activist groups at the University. Though informal, these interviews provide an important glimpse into the state of student activism and administrative policies from a variety of perspectives.

The collection contains eleven taped interviews (some individual, some in groups) ranging in length between twenty-five minutes and one hour. Some tapes are restricted; and others there is no permission on file.
