In addition to being an HTML editor, Golive also
features a rather useful Quicktime editor that allows users to add tracks
and sprites in order to create interactive Quicktime movies. There are two
ways to subtitle a movie one is by adding a text track to the movie and
the other consists of adding a href track in order to synchronize a series
of hmtl pages with the movie os they appear as subtitles.
1. Adding a text track:
adding a text track can be done with quicktime pro
but it is easier and more accurate to do it with Golive because one can
view a timeline in order to adjust the text with the dialogues thanks to a
timeline.
1. In Golive, choose File > Open a
Quicktime movie
2. Make sure the "objects" palette window is enabled (if
not, choose Window > Objects) as well as the "toolbar"
palette.
Choose the Quicktime symbol to launch the editor and see the different
types of quicktime tracks that can be added.
3. Make sure the cursor is at the beginning of the movie and drag
the text icon from the objects palette into the timeline editor. There is
now a text track that lasts the length of the movie.
4. click on the track under the new text track called
"samples". Type a word and format it the way you want your text
to be for the whole movie (ie: charcoal, yellow, bold, center aligned...)
- to format text, type the text in the text inspector, then from the menu
bar, choose movie > text > font or size or color. When done, click
apply. Your whole movie will now have one word throughout. Make sure you
make the background transparent if you want it to be (ideally, the best
setting is yellow or white letters on a transparent background, but it
might be better to have a black background and white letter for the text).
This is important to do this because this way, not every sample will have
its own font, size and color definition which might slow movie playback.
5. The next step is to slice the long sample into small ones (using
the slicing tool) as you go and replace each occurrence of the word with
the real dialogues or nothing if there is no dialogue.

For this, use the slicing tool as well as the "standard selection and
editing tool", the "create sample", the "divide
sample" and the "glue sample" icons.
