Applying to the Program:
Degree and Non-Degree Study
Graduate Liberal Studies at Wesleyan offers the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) and the Master of Philosophy in Liberal Arts (MPhil), but anyone holding a Bachelor's degree may apply to take courses in the program at any time as a non-degree student. Up to four classes taken through non-degree study may be applied towards a degree.
Applicants for non-degree study may submit their materials at any time and register for courses up until the first day of classes in any term. Students are welcome to begin their studies as non-degree candidates, and bring up to four credits into a degree program, if accepted.
There are three annual deadlines for degree applicants. They are typically in April for summer degree study, July for fall degree study, and November for spring degree study. Students are not required to begin their studies in the term immediately following their acceptance.
Application deadlines for upcoming semesters can be found here.
Current F1 visa status is required for international students who wish to study at Wesleyan University. Students who already hold an F1 visa should contact their Designated School Official to clarify any visa questions or issues. International applicants who require an I-20 from Wesleyan should contact Mary Kelly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that international students must pursue full-time study.
Consideration for international students who require an I-20 will end 10 weeks in advance of the term (Summer: April 20, 2015; Fall: June 29, 2015; Spring: November 23, 2015)
