  • Wesleyan GLS Commencement Detailed Schedule

    9:30am-10am
    Commencement Preparation

GLS Office - 74 Wyllys Avenue
The Office will be open at 9:30 a.m. and students should plan to arrive between 9:30 a.m. and no later than 10 a.m. You may have someone drop you off in front of the office, and there may be street parking on Mount Vernon, Washington Terrace, and in the Film Department Parking Lot. GLS staff will assist you in donning your regalia and will show you how to wear your hood. There will be an opportunity for you to be photographed by our staff photographer; the photos will be provided to you free of charge (photos taken on the field must be purchased). You will be lined up in alphabetical order and given a number, so you can reassemble in that order on Foss Hill. At 10:15 a.m., all students planning to participate in Commencement must be in line, ready to walk to Foss Hill. If you are sensitive to heat or sun, we recommend that you wear light colors under your black gown, as you will be on the field in the open (under the sun) for two hours or more. Don’t forget to put on sunscreen and bug spray, and do not bring anything with you to the office that you do not plan to carry onto the field for the ceremony. The office will be locked once all graduates have left, and there will not be anyone available to let you back into the building during the reception.

    10:15am-10:30am
    Foss Hill Lineup
GLS staff will lead you to the top of Foss Hill, where all graduating students and faculty assemble to form the procession line. All students participating in the commencement ceremony must be present by this time, dressed in the appropriate regalia and hood. Students who arrive late, but who are attired in proper academic regalia, may still join Commencement. However once this line begins marching, it is closed to late arrivals. The procession begins at Foss Hill, moving to Andrus Field for seating. The ceremony will last for approximately 2 hours.
