The Wesleyan McNair Fellows Program serves Juniors and Seniors, who do research with a faculty Mentor, and participate in McNair activities with their McNair cohort.  

McNair Fellow activities include:

  • Opening picnic
  • Weekly meetings with McNair staff covering subjects such as:
How to write a research proposal abstract
How to fit research time into a busy semester
How to present your research at lab meeting
How to present your research at conferences
How and when to take the GREs
How to write a statement of purpose
The graduate school application process
Preparing for the grad school interview
Outlining your thesis
Peer review -- giving and receiving useful criticism
  • End of semester off-campus event
  • Grad school visits
  • Spring research talks (By McNair Fellows).

    
McNair Fellows receive a stipend upon successful completion of each semester's project, and can apply for summer support.  The Faculty Mentors of McNair fellows receive a stipend that can be put towards lab materials.
