Tools: Kid Works 2 or Kid Pix Studio Deluxe

Background: Teacher should be familiar with the program they choose to use. With the very young child, they should do the typing for the student.

Goal: The student will create a piece of work that they can you put in a book or use as an early story.

Objective: To have the student practice using the shift key, spacebar, and period.

Procedure:
1. Brainstorm about what you would like to be when you grow up.
2. Each student writes a rough draft with the sentence frame - I am a ____________. They put what they would like to be where the space is located. They should use the shift key, spacebar, and the period.
3. Print out the page and have the child color the illustration to go along with the sentence. If they are older and they can use Kid Pix to make a picture and write their sentence as well.

Related Activities: You can make a class book with every child’s picture put together. Video books can be made if you are using Kid Pix Studio. You can also make iron - on transfers so the children can make their own t-shirts.
