Research: Students must
use their interviewing techniques and investigative reporting skills
to report on what activities have taken place and what upcoming
events are necessary for classmates to know.
Goal: As part of the research techniques
taught in order to gain information, students will interview
individuals, find out vital facts and write articles for class /
school newspaper in order to disseminate information.
Objectives:
1.Students will review format for writing
newspaper articles.
2. Students will learn to develop good questioning and interviewing
techniques.
3. Students will use good paragraph writing skills.
4. Students will develop a newspaper format using AppleWorks
Assistant.
5. Students learn to coordinate and organize ideas.
Procedure:
1. Students will use good questioning techniques and interview for
information.
2. Teacher will introduce the program, AppleWorks (Newsletter
Assistant
Template), to entire class using projection device, detailing
with an example of a
newsletter.
3 Students will use a rough draft sheet in order to organize
ideas.
4. Students are ready to go to the computers, in pairs to work from
their planning sheets.
5. Students will develop an article, editing the text and using the
spell check and revising and refining as necessary.
6. Students will proofread each other's articles to check for proper
grammar, spelling, content.
Related Activities:
This idea can be applied to interviewing new staff and students.
Students can also include photos, study tips, school calendar,
special events page, and even the school menu.
