Tools: any word processing program ( Kid Writer2, Kid Pix Studio, Appleworks, Microsoft Word), and a Quick Cam or digital camera

Background: Teacher and students should know how to use one of the word processing programs. Teacher should have a good working knowledge of the camera they will be using.

Goal: Students will be able to have a chance to become “the star” of a piece of writing.

Objective:
To have the students use their knowledge of sentence formation to create a stony about themselves.

Procedures:
1. Students will do activities that get them to brainstorm about themselves.
2. They will work with a partner to come up with a list of things they will include in their piece of writing.
3. Use a story frame if you feel the students need it.
My name is ____________________.
I like _________________________.
My favorite color is _____________.
At school I like to __________________.

4. Take a picture of the student with the camera.
5. Print the picture on the paper the student has finished, making sure they have left enough room for the picture. (You can also print this on lined paper if the student is writing the story with paper and pencil.)
6. The student finishes any other drawing or writing.
7. You make a class book or use as stand alone stories.

Related Activities:
Have pairs of students work together to interview each other and write about the child they have interviewed.
