Research:
1. Brainstorm a list of barnyard animals. Write these animals
on a chart.
Students sign up for an animal.
2. Look up riddles (using riddle books) about animals or make
one up.
Review what constitutes a riddle.
Goal: To introduce
the organization and development of a class slide show. The students
will create their backgrounds, import graphics, clip art, kid pix
stamps, photos, and finally type their riddle.
Objectives:
1. Students will discuss typical barnyard
animals.
2. Students will learn to develop a kid pix screen.
3. Students will learn to find appropriate graphics/drawings to
coordinate with
riddle.
4. Students will learn to incorporate other technologies (digital
photos, sound and
recordings (music CDs)) and scanning, into the slide show.
5. Students learn to coordinate and organize ideas.
Procedure:
1. Students will brainstorm a huge list of barnyard animals.
2. Teacher will introduce the program, Kid Pix, to entire
class using
projection device, detailing with an example of a well developed
screen and then a slide show.
3. Students will use a rough draft (planning) sheet in order to
organize ideas.
4. Students are ready to go to the computers, in pairs to work from
their planning sheets.
5. Students will develop a single screen, design a drawing, and write
in the text (riddle).
6. As the students continue to design and write, screens can be added
at any time.
Related Activities:
This idea can be applied to designing a slide show for any purpose.
Field trips, class night, graduation, school play, volunteers thank
you, are all good examples of typical slide shows.
