Wesleyan University Orchestra 2005-2006 Season

Note: All rehearsal times subject to change

    This semester we will be performing two programs:

  1. Accompanying two separate documentaries, "The Plow That Broke the Plains" and "The River"      Music by Virgil Thomson
  2. Master Peter's Puppet Show by Manuel de Falla

All rehearsals will be held at Crowell, except the days indicated below.

Rehearsal Times:

Monday: 7 PM-8:15 PM "The River"
              8:30 PM-9:30 PM "The Plow That Broke the Plains"
              Wednesday November 30, 7pm. Dress Rehearsal at the Chapel

Wednesday: 7 PM-9:30 PM "Master Peter's Puppet Show"
                   Wednesday November 9 and Thursday November 10, rehearsals
                    at the CFA Theater (7 PM)


Note: Wednesday rehearsals will be with a chamber orchestra, so not all will be involved on Wednesdays. However, be prepared to rehearse even if you are not selected for the chamber group, as rehearsal plans are subject to change.


Specialty Rehearsals:

September 28th: 2 Hours of sectionals for the ENTIRE ORCHESTRA (even though it's a Wednesday)

October 17th: NO REHEARSAL It's October break! So have fun

November 5th: Open rehearsal for Parents weekend-Arrive at Crowell at 12:30

November 16th: Sectionals for documentary scores

November 23rd: NO REHEARSAL For Thanksgiving! Be thankful you're not at Orchestra

Performances:

November 11 and 12th at 8PM-Master Peter's Puppet Show. November 13th at 2PM-Master Peter's Puppet Show CFA Theater

Concerto Competition Auditions are Sunday, December 4th at Noon. All are encouraged to try out. The winners will be selected to play the concerto at a concert during the spring term. Orchestra members are encouraged to be part of the jury.
