MAGIC IN THE NIGHT?::
A circle of mushrooms, known as a " fairy ring", sprouts on the College
Row lawn Sept. 20. The visible mushrooms are actually part of a long
strand of fungi underneath the soil. The fungi emerged after a heavy
rainfall the night before. The term "fairy ring" comes from a
superstition that the fungi growing in a circle represent the path of
dancing fairies. (Photo by Olivia Bartlett) |
