REUNION &
COMMENCEMENT: Wesleyan held its 174th commencement May 28 during
Reunion & Commencement Weekend. John Hope Franklin, professor of
history, emeritus at Duke University, delivered the principal address at
commencement May 28. He was awarded an honorary doctor of letters during
the ceremony.
Class of 1956 alumni Dale Lott of Poultney, Vt.,
Tom Plimpton of Indianapolis, Ind. and Frank Bancroft of Wellfleet, Mass.
chat during the Welcome Picnic behind Russell House May 26. The gentlemen
were celebrating their 50th Class Reunion.
Wesleyan celebrated its 175th birthday on
Andrus Field with an all-college picnic and kids fair.
Artist-in-residence Helen Mensah and master drummer Abraham Adzenyah
provided West African drumming and dance entertainment during the picnic
May 27.
