WORK AND PLAY: Joe Carpentino, a graduate student in biology, throws a pitch while Emmalee Riegler '08 waits on second base. Carpentino organized a softball league as a weekly social event for the Summer Hughes Program fellows and other students on campus this summer. Riegler is a research assistant for the Physics Department.

Reigler, center, runs to first base after hitting a grounder to third baseman Scott Horowitz '07. Horowitz is a Hughes Fellow working with Irina Russu, professor of chemistry.
