CHANGING LANES: Sections of High
Street, south of Church Street, are being remodeled to slow traffic and
provide a safer environment for students living on this stretch of the
street. The Center for Community Partnerships, the Chaplains Office, the
Religion Department, WesWings, the Asian/Asian-American House, and
multiple student residences are on this road. A left turn-lane was added at the High
and Church Street intersection to divert traffic down Church
Street, rather than down High Street. The City of Middletown is in
charge of the project.
Lanes on this section of High Street have
been reduced to 11-feet wide and small curves have been added to the
street. New parallel parking areas have been added. The City of
Middletown will plant grass and trees in old sections of the road.
